Wincanton wins six-year contract with Tilda
Wincanton has won a six-year warehousing and distribution contract with one of the country’s leading producers of Basmati rice, Tilda. The logistics firm will collect the rice from Tilda’s two production sites and transport it to Wincanton’s shared-user facility in West Thurrock.
The goods will then be distributed to Tilda’s customers across the country, including major retailers, wholesalers and food outlets.
As part of the contract Wincanton takes responsibility for all Tilda’s warehousing and distribution operations.
Wincanton will also manage Tilda’s shipping to America and transport operations into mainland Europe, using a range of transport options such as dedicated vehicles, its own fleet network, and sub-contractors.
Jeremy Roberts, head of supply chain for Tilda, said: “We were looking for a business partner that could not only demonstrate innovation within the supply chain, but which also shared our commitment to reducing our overall operational impact on the environment.
“We are confident Wincanton is the right partner to build on the success of our business to date,” he added.
