UK Organic Foods Deal
Eversfield Organic Farm, the award winning Devon-based organic food business, has acquired Dorset Farms making it one of the UK’s largest brands to provide organic and free range products. The business, a family run 450 acre organic farm located near to Okehampton, has bought the assets and goodwill of Dorset Farms for an undisclosed sum to expand its product range and offer its growing customer base, an ethical charcuterie option. The deal will see Eversfield enjoy an anticipated 30% increase in turnover during the next 12 months and build its team to 36 people based working across the two sites, whilst also saving nine jobs.
Dorset Farms, which was established in 1984 is situated in Beaminster and is recognised internationally for supplying hand produced, high quality hams and bacon. It uses free range and organic west country pigs to provide its products to customers UK-wide through selected west country Waitrose stores, leading independent food retailers and farms shops as well as its online platform. As a traditional food business and certified by the Soil Association, Dorset Farms uses natural marinades and ingredients to produce its finest award-winning ham range which includes the popular honey smoked, Dorset traditional and cider & cloves flavours.
Eversfield Organic Farm was founded by Mark Bury in 2002 with his son, Hamish, and daughter, Anna, to achieve a long held family ambition of producing high quality, organic meat.
Mark Bury says: “There is a great synergy between Dorset Farms and Eversfield Organic, as two businesses that have historically operated to provide produce that is an accessible option for people who are passionate about what they eat and where it originates from. The exciting addition of Dorset Farms’ delicious ham and bacon to the Eversfield Organic range now means that our customers can easily order a wider variety of products conveniently and cost-effectively through our online shop.”
