Two caps are better than one for spice company
Pioneering glass manufacturer Beatson Clark has come up with an innovative new spice jar which can be used with two different caps.
Belgian spice brand ISFI, which exports its products all over the world, wanted a glass spice jar which could be sold with both a standard grinder and a standard flapper cap. Working with its sister company, distributor Pont Europe in the Netherlands, Beatson Clark’s design team created a new bespoke 100ml jar for ISFI. The unique neck finish accommodates both types of cap, which means there is no need for ISFI to purchase two sets of neck equipment for the same jar. The neck finish is also designed with an anti-rotation lug so that the product with the grinder cap cannot be refilled by the consumer.
Bas Van Der Knaap, Purchasing Manager at ISFI Spices, says, “We had the idea but we needed to find a manufacturer which was prepared to work with us to come up with a design solution,. We worked with Beatson Clark through Pont Europe and we were very pleased with the design that they produced. Not only will this new innovation save us money on mould equipment, it will also enable us to consolidate five spice jars in our range to just three.”
The new product is already being sold in Belgium, and Beatson Clark plans to offer the new neck finish for other spice jars in its portfolio.
Lynn Sidebottom, Sales and Marketing Director at Beatson Clark, says, “This is a great example of the flexibility we offer to our customers. ISFI came to us with a clear brief and our innovative design team was able to come up with an ideal solution.
“Beatson Clark’s expertise is finding flexible solutions to requests like this, and it’s a win-win for everyone: the customer gets the container they require and we get an opportunity to extend the innovative design solution to other customers.”
