Sympathetic White Wine
Celler Espolla is a wine cellar founded in 1931, located in the county of Alt Empordà (Catalonia, Spain). The winery wished to introduce a new white wine focused on young customers, so they entrusted us with the branding and development of the new brand image. Right away, we saw the opportunity to create something very special and different from other similar products. Something fun and cheerful that would break down concepts and standards in order to connect with this young public. The name of Babalà was proposed, since its meaning is very consistent with the personality that we wanted to give the product (in Catalan it means “to do something senseless but to do it boldly”, very much in line with the young target audience). The label was illustrated by New York-based illustrator Jesse Kuhn and depicts a fisherman very much in line with his style. It was a complete success in the Spanish market, to the point of causing stock-outs just three months after the product launch
