Smurfit Kappa shines at DFTA awards
Fruit basket with Easter design wins gold in the “Corrugated Board direct printing on uncoated paper” category
DFTA is the trade association for the Flexoprint industry. In cooperation with Elbe-Obst, Smurfit Kappa in Schneverdingen, Germany, submitted an innovative Easter basket for apples made from corrugated board. The design, a dual-purpose decorative basket, won over the panel of judges. On the outside of the corrugated basket are pre-cut Easter eggs and Easter bunnies, which are easily pushed out. An attractive and eye-catching mobile is made from these using the accompanying printed instructions. This gives a clear sales advantage at retail outlets.
The print quality of the uncoated paper was also evaluated. Despite the rough surface of the paper, the ink application during printing was judged to be very sophisticated.
