Smurfit Kappa receives supplier award from General Mills International
Holistic Margin Management award recognition of Smurfit Kappa’s support over the last 15 years
The awards took place at the General Mills International (GMI) ‘Supplier Recognition & Sustainability day’, which Smurfit Kappa attended along with 14 of GMI’s other global suppliers. GMI’s buyers, sourcing managers and sustainability managers were all present. Four of GMI’s global suppliers were recognized for helping and supporting GMI improve their position in the marketplace for the past ten years or more.
The awards were split into four categories: ‘Supplier Performance’, ‘Sustainability’, ‘Innovation’ and ‘Holistic Margin Management’ (HMM).
Smurfit Kappa won in the ‘Holistic Margin Management’ (HMM) category, for being the company that has “efficiently accompanied and supported GMI across Europe for more than 15 years in our need for continuous cost reduction”.
Travis Mutch, GMI’s Sourcing Director EMEA, commented: “HMM is one of our business strategies. This strategy means that we focus on reducing our costs, increasing value for our customers in our end products, decreasing waste and re-investing this back into our brands to protect our margins and fuel business growth. Our key suppliers play an important role in supporting us in our HMM strategy, and by working closely with them as a strategic partner both parties enjoy the benefits.”
Smurfit Kappa is recognized as an excellent business partner for GMI, and has worked closely with their teams to drive out cost and add value. As Travis Mutch states: “We have an excellent business partnership with Smurfit Kappa and look forward to continue working with them in the future in other important areas as well, such as innovation and sustainability.”
