The sixth generation of the Robinson family has taken over the running of Robinsons, the Stockport-based British regional brewer and pub operator. With over 150 years in the business between them, chairman Peter Robinson and his brothers Dennis and David are reducing their involvement with the business, allowing for some changes to the board. Oliver and William Robinson have now become joint managing directors marking the transition of the day to day management of the business from one generation to the next. Oliver Robinson heads up the Beer Division whilst William takes responsibility for the Pub Division.

Robinsons is one the UK’s largest family brewers, with 360 pubs across the North West of England and Wales. The company has recently invested £5 million in modernising its brewery. Work on Robinsons’ new state-of-the-art brewhouse began in January 2011 with the second phase commencing last September. Most of the new brewing equipment is now in place, including the 2.5 metre hopnik, this new technology will sit alongside the company’s old brewing equipment, allowing visitors to Robinsons brewery to see the old next to the new. The new equipment is expected to be in full use at Robinsons’ Stockport headquarters by Easter 2012, heralding a new era at the historic site.
