SIG Combibloc launches mini carton pack for the food and beverage industry
SIG Combibloc, part of the New Zealand-based Rank Group, has launched a new small-format carton pack for the food and beverage industry.
The new combiblocXSlim comes in seven volumes ranging from 80ml to 180ml, which can all be filled on the same filling machine from SIG Combibloc.
SIG Combibloc global product management head Ralf Mosbacher said in fast-growing regions, such as Asia and the Middle East, demand for small-size carton packs with volumes of 100ml and below is growing in the food and beverage industry.
“With products in small-size carton packs like these, food manufacturers are able to match their products to consumers’ spending power in the respective markets, and respond very flexibly to market requirements,” Mosbacher said.
The combiblocXSlim, which can be used for milk and dairy products and non-carbonated soft drinks packaging, has a base area of 47mm x 32.5mm, giving the carton pack a slim look.
The mini carton packs can be fitted with handy drinking straws with a diameter of more than 7mm, allowing even drinks with a thick, creamy consistency to be consumed straight from the pack conveniently.
The CFA 1224-36 filling machine for the new carton pack is based on SIG Combibloc’s filling machine technology, which has the capacity to fill up to 24,000 carton packs per hour.
“CombiblocXSlim is perfect, for instance, for packaging products for children. Packaged in carton packs, premium-quality foods and drinks are perfectly protected, and they can be offered in portion sizes that are tailored exactly to the needs of the relevant target group,” Mosbacher concluded.
SIG said that FrieslandCampina Thailand is the first manufacturer to have selected the company’s combiblocXSlim carton packs for its products.
