RPC Promens Consumer Corby develops PEP olive jar for Agro Sevilla
Rigid plastics packaging product manufacturer RPC Promens Consumer Corby has introduced a new multilayer plastic jar for table olives producer Agro Sevilla for an extended shelf life.
The PEP olive jar comes in a 2l variant and is made with polypropylene having an EVOH layer, which prevents oxygen entry and ensures increased storage life of the product.
In addition to the advantages of being airtight, the container allows pasteurisation and sterilisation, which helps to retain the flavour and freshness of the olives.
The containers have been designed to be lightweight, when compared with glass jars, and are rectangular in shape, which not only make manual handling easier and safer, but also increase their freight container capacity.
Spain-based Agro Sevilla is claimed to be the largest producer and exporter of table olives in the country, and is one of the main exporters of olive oil for around 75 countries.
The firm operates from its factories in Spain and Chile, as well as distribution subsidiaries in the US and Italy.
Earlier in the month, RPC’s Bebo Kristians and Food Packaging Systems unit launched a new seafood packing system, which offers logistical and sustainability benefits.
RPC has also recently developed a new multilayer PP/EVOH/PP jar, which offers better transparency and has long-term storage capacity for high-barrier food applications.
