RPC develops custom packaging for ready meals
RPC Barrier Containers has created a custom packaging solution for French foods firm Soulie Restauration, imparting the products with a premium look and long shelf life.
The 600ml oval tubs are thermoformed in multilayer polypropylene by RPC’s Bebo Plastik division. The matching lids are injection-molded in PP by its Bramlage division. According to the packaging firm, the barrier pack provides the ready-to-heat meals with a shelf life of up to 18 months.
Unique design
The specially designed tub and lid resemble a traditional casserole pot and are bright red or yellow (varying by product). The striking colors are intended to give the meals a high degree of shelf impact and brand differentiation.
The meals (created with traditional French recipes) are retorted in the tub. Because the components are crafted in two locations, the teams in the different divisions communicate and work closely to ensure the components work effectively together.
Working together
In a press release, Philippe Lalere (marketing director for Soulie Restauration parent company William Saurin) says the company turned to RPC for the packaging based on previous experience.
“We have a high level of confidence in both RPC’s technical and creative capabilities and their ability to develop workable solutions in line with our objectives,” he said. “This latest project is a further example of the successful working partnership that we have enjoyed since 2004.”
