Goplasticpallets.com is urging food and drinks manufacturers to put hygiene first when it comes to selecting a supplier of containers or pallets, ahead of this year’s Pro2Pac exhibition at ExCel London, March 13-16.

Jim Hardisty, Managing Director of Goplasticpallets.com, said: “In the United States, wooden pallets have recently come under scrutiny following an examination of 140 wooden pallets in which 33% tested positive for foodborne pathogens. Cardboard containers present similar safety concerns in food packing environments, as they are more susceptible to mould than other types of packaging material. Food manufacturers should seriously consider using more hygienic alternatives, like plastic, to ensure they are not putting their staff and customers at risk. We’ve recently taken orders from Nestlé UK, Kellogg’s, Cadbury Kenya Ltd and Vion Food for our plastic containers and pallets.”

At Pro2Pac, Goplasticpallets.com will be promoting the hygienic benefits of plastic on its stand C28 with a variety of food containers from its new division Goplasticboxes.com, along with a selection of its coloured hygienic pallets.

Products from Goplasticboxes.com’s food range will include – the GoBox 2500 CL – a foldable crate which makes virtually no sound when both erected and folded down, to reduce noise pollution in food packing areas, and only available in the UK through Goplasticboxes.com. Also on display will be food containers that stack and nest, and wheeled box dollies.

Goplasticpallets.com’s hygienic pallets are now available in eight single colour options, with the recent introduction of a pure yellow pallet. For orders in excess of 500 units, companies can also choose from one of Goplasticpallets.com’s 84 two-colour options. Manufactured using the finest quality food grade virgin HDPE (high-density polyethylene), the hygienic pallet has totally smooth, sealed surfaces and is available from stock in two styles – a 1200mm (L) x 800mm (W) Non Perimeter version and a 1200mm (L) x 1000mm (W) Full Perimeter version.
