Purecircle shipment released
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) have now released PureCircle shipments which were detained in May 2016 based on what the company says were inaccurate allegations that they contained stevia from an external supplier that used forced labour. The shipments were released after CBP review of substantial, detailed traceability documentation from PureCircle, including independent, third-party verifications.
Purecircle said that it continues to work actively with CBP to correct all inaccurate allegations from others regarding its labour practices, noting that it remains committed to human rights and fair use of labour. As Purecircle expands its vertically integrated supply chain, the company said it remains committed to traceability and transparency as a critical way it verifies compliance with its Global Labour Policy and Supplier Code of Conduct.
