Puratos reveals insights from ground-breaking new global consumer study at first Taste Tomorrow event as a catalyst for customer innovation in the bakery, patisserie and chocolate sectors
Guangzhou, China kicks off global road show and launch of online innovation platform
Guangzhou, 25 May 2012 – Puratos – the leading innovator in the bakery, patisserie, and chocolate industry launches its first Taste Tomorrow event today to provide unique insights into emerging consumer trends in the bakery sector impacting an international audience of manufacturers.
Puratos revealed the results of a global consumer survey demonstrating consumers’ attitudes and perceptions towards bakery, patisserie and chocolate in various regions and cultures. It appears that consumers across the globe are becoming increasingly sensitive to how food is produced. Therefore, transparency and authenticity play a key role in the sourcing, development and production process of food products. Moreover, the consumers’ increased awareness goes hand in hand with a more critical attitude which is reflected in seemingly paradoxical consumer behaviour: for example, consumers demand food to be beneficial to their health but they also want to be able to indulge.
Attitudes towards the future of bakery, patisserie and chocolate vary greatly in different parts of the world. Western consumers in mature markets are increasingly sceptical about the future of food whereas Asian consumers adopt a more positive attitude.
The trends are derived from large-scale global research conducted in 14* countries by InSites Consulting for Puratos with the goal to enhance customer knowledge about important macro-economic and consumer trends impacting the bakery, patisserie and chocolate sectors, and to provide inspiration for innovative product development.
Taste Tomorrow is a unique industry initiative and a platform for knowledge-sharing amongst key players in the bakery, patisserie and chocolate sectors. The Asian event kicks off a series of events taking place in different parts of the world. Each event will provide unique global and local insights into emerging trends in the food sector and provide product manufacturers with actionable information that will enable them to adapt their product innovation and development to current and future consumer needs.
