Public Consultation – Listeria in Ready-to-eat Foods
EFSA has opened a public consultation on its scientific opinion looking at Listeria monocytogenes contamination of ready-to-eat (RTE) foods and related risks for human health in the European Union. This work was triggered by the upward trend of human listeriosis cases in Europe over the period 2009-2013.
Experts of the Panel on Biological Hazards investigated the trend of human listeriosis in different age-gender groups between 2008 and 2015. They reviewed the recent information available on L. monocytogenes in RTE foods and identified factors that may have impacted on the trend.
The deadline for comments is 29 September 2017.
EFSA is organising a meeting with its stakeholders to gather feedback on the draft scientific opinion on 19-20 September 2017.
