Italian manufacturer PFM Packaging Machinery is demonstrating its two latest entry-level machines for the food industry: the Pearl servo-driven flow-wrapper and the ZC1 combined weigher-bagger. “Both machines have been developed to meet the need for inexpensive systems that nevertheless offer a high degree of flexibility and accuracy and are simple to use,” comments PFM sales and operations director Chris Bolton.
The Pearl provides smaller or start-up operations with the advantages of multi-axis servo drive, reducing maintenance requirements and providing easy programming and changeover for different pack formats, which can be held in memory for press-button recall. Speed is up to 120 a minute.
In particular, the machine is built to food industry hygiene requirements with a cantilever construction and gently radiussed guard panels that avoid dirt traps.
The ZC1 is an integrated multihead weigher and bagging machine for mid-speed duties up to 80 bags a minute, handling dry goods such as snacks, confectionery, pet-food, granular products, biscuits and short pasta.
It brings together the PFM Zenith bagger and the PFM C1 multihead weigher, which is mounted on the bagger itself, avoiding the cost of the usual supporting gantry. In addition, drop height is kept short to provide gentle handling for delicate goods.
