PET Passata Bottles for Customer Appeal and Convenience
A leading brand of Italian Passata, Conserve Italia, Cirio, has chosen a barrier PET bottle made by APPE to package their products, highlighting the suitability of PET bottles for storing sauces and condiments.
Lightweight PET Bottles
APPE’s bottle offers an 18-month ambient shelf life – similar to Cirio’s existing glass bottles – but it is lighter, and offers improved clarity. This allows the product to be displayed for optimum impact on the shelves whilst being much easier to handle and pour. The bottle is highly resistant to shattering, which is a huge advantage in the customer’s kitchen.
The lightweight PET bottle design can also also be packaged as a multi-pack, another advantage for retail purposes.
Bind-Ox™ Technology
The new bottle features APPE’s innovative Bind-Ox™ technology, which forms an active barrier, trapping oxygen and binding it to the wall of the bottle to prevent it from reaching the passata inside. The bottle is modelled on the previous glass bottle design, helping to maintain consistency of branding, and making the product easily recognisable in the store. The bottle is to be filled aseptically at Conserve Italia.
The new PET bottle together with the Derby and Yoga brands continue the partnership between Conserve Italia and Appe, expanding it to encompass the Cirio brand of tomato.
APPE’s Michel Goovaerts explains: “PET’s combination of light weight and on-shelf appeal makes it the ideal material for a huge variety of food products, where an attractive appearance and maximum convenience are critical factors in generating a quality image and favourable consumer perceptions. We are confident this introduction will show strong consumer support for the new pack format.”
