Payne hires Amcor’s Martin Dallas to lead growth strategy
Payne has outlined plans to position itself as a supplier of ‘total packaging’ after appointing Martin Dallas from Amcor as managing director for its packaging business
Dallas, who was sales and marketing director for Amcor Flexibles, joined the Nottingham-based business at the start of August with a brief to grow the business outside of its traditional tear-tape market.
His arrival at the business comes at a time of expansion for Payne’s business outside the tear-tape arena, in particular following the acquisition last December of BP Labels in Cardiff.
Dallas will aim to build on that acquisition by positioning the company as a supplier of what it called “total packaging solutions” that combine easy opening and closing with features such as brand protection, promotion and consumer information.
He said: “I am looking forward immensely to driving the growth of the Payne business and developing our broader product offer.
“Payne has an excellent reputation and I look forward to making it even more relevant as we seek to deliver greater value to both our existing and new customers.”
Dallas, who spent many years with Cadbury Schweppes before joining Amcor, will report to Tony Edwards, who is managing director of the Coated & Security Products division of Filtrona, the listed company that owns Payne.
Edwards said: “Martin has considerable experience of leading sales, marketing and innovation in both business-to-business and business-to-consumer environments.
“These skills will be ideal in leading the Payne business on its next stage of growth.”
