Olympus Opens €55 Million Romanian Dairy
Greek dairy producer Olympus has opened its first greenfield factory in Romania at a cost of Eur55 million, representing the company’s largest investment outside Greece. Located at Halchiu in Brascov county, the new 25,000 sq m factory has the capacity to process 40,000 liters of milk per hour and produce up to 120 tons of yogurt, 100 tons of white cheese and 16,000 liters of PET milk per day.
OlympusRomania reported sales of Eur24 million this year. However, with the new facility on stream the company is projecting a turnover of about Eur40 million next year. Olympus has been present in Romania since 1999. It also owns a 23% stake in local dairy company Prodlacta. Established in Greece in 1965, Olympus is part of the Tyras group of companies.
