Nestle Opens New Production Line in China
Nestle has opened a new seasoning production line at its Maggi factory in Dongguan, China, marking the completion of the first phase of the group’s SFr44m (€35m) expansion project. The new state-of-the-art production line aims to increase the factory’s annual production capacity of Maggi liquid seasoning products by 1,700 tonnes.
The Maggi Dongguan factory also produces a selection of culinary products including seasoning, flavourings and soups. Maggi seasoning has been very popular for both professional and household cooking, and the factory expansion will enable Nestle to meet the increasing market demand.
Completion of the expansion project – expected in 2015 – looks set to increase the factory’s production capacity by 300%. Construction has already begun on the next phase which will also include workshop space.
