Moody Plc Celebrates 40 Years Supplying the Food Processing Industries
Moody Plc will be celebrating 40 years in November 2015 as suppliers and service providers to the dairy, food, beverage, ice cream, brewing and pharmaceutical industries.
From humble beginnings working out of Chairman Paul Moody’s garage at home, Moody’s began by trading in pre-owned food processing machinery. Moody Process Equipment is still selling top quality new and pre-owned food and beverage related machinery including packaging equipment, tanks, heat exchangers, homogenisers, pumps and valves today.
The Moody Group, based from headquarters in Retford, Nottinghamshire, has grown substantially over the years and is now made up of seven divisions including process and packaging spare parts, service, turnkey projects, electrical engineering, automation, asset valuation and asset disposal services. The Moody Group has also acquired a number of brands such as Alfred & Co, the well- known ice cream equipment business.
“We have had many challenges and successes over the past 40 years. We have constantly adapted our approach to the ever changing market to fit our customers’ needs. For example, we developed Moodybid our own in-house online auction platform enabling online auctions as opposed to an ‘in the room’ sale. Developments such as this have given our customers flexibility in a busy and sometimes hectic FMCG industry. In 2012 we also launched our plate heat exchanger integrity testing centre, in direct response to customer demand”, said Paul Moody.
With the head office centrally based in Retford, Nottinghamshire, the Moody Group has offices in Belper, Derbyshire and a service centre in Stonehouse, Gloucestershire. In addition, there are service engineers based in Scotland and the North East, ready 24/7 to assist with emergency break downs or carry out a large variety of scheduled or ad-hoc service work. A far cry from Paul Moody’s garage back in 1975.
“Moody Direct, our spare parts business, has grown dramatically since being formed back in 1996. Moody Direct distributes some of the world’s biggest brands including SPX, Tetra Pak, Alfa Laval, Gea and Realm. We continually seek new opportunities to help our business grow. Moody Automation formed in 2008 has entered industries such as renewable energy, waste management, mining and power generation delivering projects in countries such as Chile, Russia and China”, Paul continued.
Looking to the future, the Moody Group will continue to provide first class customer service to the industries served.
Paul added, “We are currently undertaking several projects for some high profile, blue chip customers, which we are very proud of. We will continue to invest and employ top quality team members, which is the key to enable us to provide quality solutions and services to our ever growing customer base. Our continued success over the past 40 years could not have been achieved without the hardworking and dedicated people we employ. We are all driven to offer complete product life cycle support in partnership with our customers”.
