Finnish paper and pulp company has developed a new coated version of its Modo Northern Light liner, which is suitable for litho lamination and microflute applications, and primarily for food packaging.

The liner complements the company’s coated Kemiart kraftliners and adds a grade with high whiteness and better printing properties in lower substances.

Manufactured at Metsä Board’s Husum mill in Sweden, the Modo Northern Light linerboards are claimed to be made from fresh forest fibers.

Metsä Board Linerboard sales vice president Risto Auero said, “Coated Modo Northern Light is a welcome addition to our lightweight linerboard portfolio – a litho lamination liner in lower substances.

“It provides excellent printing properties, and is an appreciated solution in markets where a pure material is needed for food packaging and other sensitive products.”

The company stated that it can trace all other raw materials used in the manufacturing of liner.

To create a light corrugated structure, the coated and uncoated Modo Northern Light can be used in various combinations of top and reverse side liner, and the uncoated grade as fluting.
