Meadow Foods to Increase Milk Price
Meadow Foods, the UK’s largest independently owned dairy group and leading supplier of milk based dairy ingredients to the food industry, will be increasing the price it pays for milk by +0.3ppl from 1st January 2014. This will take the company’s standard litre price to 32.55ppl. The price increase will be added to the flat rate element of Meadow’s pricing ensuring all producers receive the full benefit of the increase.
Simon Chantler, executive chairman of Meadow Foods, comments: “I am sure this increase will be welcomed by our producers and we hope this move will continue the forward momentum in the market place in the New Year. We have again put the price increase on the flat rate element of the contract so producers get the benefit of the increase in full. We continue to successfully recruit new producers because of our simple price schedules where producers can achieve the headline prices.”
The business currently handles more than 560 million litres of milk each year direct from over 600 farmer suppliers from the North West, Midlands and North and West Wales.
Meadow was recently named as “Dairy Company of the Year” at the Farm Business Cream Awards that recognises excellence across the dairy industry.
Meadow Foods operates from factories in Chester, Peterborough and Holme-on-Spalding Moor. Its products include cream, butter, sweetened condensed milk, anhydrous milk fat, chocolate crumb and cultured products. The company, founded in 1992, now employs more than 250 people and has a turnover in excess of £400 million.
