Matusalem Rum, the Miami-based family owned beverages group, has opened a new production facility located in Monte Plata, Dominican Republic. The new facility is projected to produce over 550,000 cases per year and generate more than 300 direct jobs and approximately 750 indirect jobs.

The distillery is dedicated to manufacturing rums of diverse ages, with an initial production of over 14,000 bottles daily. Matusalem’s line of rums produced in the new facility will include the Gran Reserva Solera23 and Solera15, Clásico Solera10, Solera7, Añejo and Platino. Aside from being distributed in the Dominican Republic, Matusalem Rum will be exported to the United States, the European Union, Russia, Middle East, Asia Pacific, South America, Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean Islands.

The new Matusalem facility operations will include the acquisition of high-grade cane alcohol, aging process of aged rums, development of different types of rum based on profile and aging, shipment of rums in isotanks, bottling and packaging, as well as shipment of finished products. Future operations being considered are the planting of sugar cane fields, distillation of alcohol and expanding the capacity for aging.
