The latest luxury packaging designs and materials will be on display at PACKAGING INNOVATIONS London, taking place on 4& 5 October 2012 at the Business Design Centre. The dedicated area will cover everything from stylish bottles, ribbons and braids to specialist materials, designer and promotional packaging.

The UK luxury goods market, valued at £5.8bn in 2011, is expected to have grown by a further 8.5% by the end of 2012, according to research by Walpole & Ledbury Research. However the sector is changing fast.  Buyers are becoming younger, the role of affluent tourists is increasing and lucrative overseas markets in East Asia and Africa are emerging. In response luxury brands can’t stand still. They need to ensure their packaging is responding to these trends. Luxury Packaging at PACKAGING INNOVATIONS London is designed to do just that.

Visitors will be able to meet with Wrapology (stand GB45). Producing luxury packaging for nearly 12 years, it understands the importance of the sensory experience it provides to the customer. It offers everything from box linings, trimmings, specialist ribbons, silverised toggles to branded embossed duo-dyed papers and heavy embossed logo detail.

Tom Bosanquet, Sales Director at Wrapology, comments: “We believe luxury packaging is more than a printed carrier bag or a box. It’s an extension of the brand, enhancing customer experience both in and out of store and an opportunity to add value. We’ll be showing the latest range from fine cast sculpture house Wrightson&Platt at the show to demonstrate these values.”

Leo Luxe, part of the leading global printing communications company Leo Paper Group (stand GB38), will present its new packaging concepts and launch its new brand identity to the UK market at the show. The new high-end designs on display include those created for customers in the premium drinks and gift markets, and employ innovative secondary processes that transform the look and feel of paper.

Cuan O’Callaghan, Sales Manager at Leo Luxe, remarks: “Today brands are looking for ways to ensure their packaging stands out against the competition and communicates the right message to the target consumer group. Visitors to PACKAGING INNOVATIONS London will be able to see and understand our range of solutions that add value to the product itself through a combination of quality, high-tech printing techniques, secondary processes, and inspiring designs. The new branding better reflects our luxury product and service offering and the designs on our stand include some of our creative team’s most inventive concepts. They also demonstrate the effective new finishing processes, developed to transform paper into looking and feeling like other materials, such as wood, metal and leather.”

HH Deluxe Packaging (stand GB43) will be exhibiting its print and packaging capabilities to highlight its global position as a leader in the design, print, manufacture and delivery of luxury paperboard packaging. David Jenkins, Business Development Manager at HH Deluxe Packaging, says: “Exhibiting at PACKAGING INNOVATIONS London provides a great opportunity to meet potential new customers and to help build our reputation as the luxury packaging manufacturer inChinaworking direct with theUKmarket.”

HH Deluxe Packaging will be showcasing exclusive premium brand boxes with various innovative designs, coverings and finishes; including a commission by the world’s biggest pop star for her VIP pop-up invitation box.

Also exhibiting in the luxury sector will be Antalis McNaughton, GF Smith, Macfarlane Packaging, Progress Packaging, Cole Fabrics Plc and Premier Ribbon.

For those keen to keep up with latest issues and trends, there will be a packed program of free-to-attend learnShopsTM with luxury packaging high on the agenda.

Fiona Foster, New Product Development at Sampling Innovations, will be discussing ‘Affordable luxury – small is beautiful’. Fiona is a qualified packaging technologist with over 25 years’ experience of new product development working for beauty brands such as Space NK, Eve Lom, The Body Shop, Marks & Spencer and Yves Saint Laurent.

She remarks: “My presentation will focus on looking at the use of miniature and single use products in the luxury cosmetics, fragrance and toiletry product arena, focusing on the multiple benefits these items have for the brand, customer and retailer.”
