Lactalis Secures Majority Steak in Parmalat

Lactalis has increased its stake in Italian dairy group Parmalat to just over 50%. The French and international dairy giant already held 29% of Parmalat before launching a Eur3.4b bid for the rest of the company in May.
Lactalis has also gained control of nine of Parmalat’s 11 board seats. A combination of Lactalis and Parmalat would create the world’s largest dairy group.
