KM Packaging ovenable pouches launch extends Superguard range
Designed to be used on thermoforming machines (base web and top web seals), the new films enable food manufacturers to easily seal meat, fish and sauce-based products into a pouch suitable for either conventional ovens or microwaves.
Based near Peterborough in the east of England, KM Packaging Servicessays the Superguard oven pouch can speed up preparation and cooking times, reduce cooking odours and retain moisture in products as they cook.
Where meats and fish are packed with sauces the Superguard oven pouch also allows the meat and fish to marinate in the pack, prior to cooking.
Charles Smithson, KM Packaging Services managing director, says: “Customers who use premade ovenable pouches often have great difficulty in placing food quickly and neatly into them, and rely on very labour-intensive processes.
“With Superguard Oven films the process is much easier: the base film is formed leaving an aperture for the food, allowing the ingredients to be placed quickly, cleanly and precisely into it.”
A “cost-effective alternative” to premade ovenable trays, which are usually manufactured from CPET or aluminium, the KM Superguard Oven range includes base web ovenable films for shallow thermoforming, and top web films that are available in high oxygen barrier, metallised or transparent and supplied with or without anti fog.
Operating globally, KM Packaging Services is a specialist provider of heat sealable lidding films used on a wide range of premade food trays, tubs and pots for ambient, frozen or chilled prepared convenience foods.
