Irish Company Awarded at World’s Largest Seafood Event
The Irish Atlantic Seafood Company (IASC) has become the first Irish company to receive the Prix d’Elite award from the Global Seafood Expo, in Brussels, the world’s largest seafood event. IASC recently received the award for its innovative line of shellfish butters which are designed to enhance the flavour of fish dishes.
The award winning product, selling under the ‘Something Fishy’ brand, combines shellfish protein with Irish butter, seaweed and seasoning to produce an ‘umami’ or savoury delicious taste. IASC have applied for a patent on the process of producing the butter and are the only company to produce the product globally. This unique product was also recognised at the World Food Innovation Awards, held in London in March, when the shellfish butter won the award for best new condiment.
The Seafood Prix d’Elite new product awards competition recognizes the best seafood products of the year. It takes place at the Seafood Expo Global, which is the world’s largest seafood trade event. More than 25,000 buyers, suppliers, media and other seafood professionals from 150 countries visit the exposition. It is recognised as the global event where the seafood industry meets.
IASC is planning to expand its current distribution from Ireland and the UK this year, into the USA, Europe and Asia, and is in the process of filling its first order for Malaysia currently. The company will also launch a further 20 products over the next 3 to 5 years, in retail, food service and B2B channels.
The Irish Atlantic Seafood Company is a member of Love Irish Food. Love Irish Food aims to help shoppers make informed choices about buying Irish manufactured food and drinks, with the overall aim of safeguarding the future of food and drink manufacturing in Ireland.
