IFF opens new flavours facility in China
International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF), a US-based producer of flavours and fragrances, has opened a new flavours production facility in Guangzhou, China, as part of its strategy to strengthen its presence in emerging markets.
The facility is part of a previously announced $100m investment in Asia.
Located in the Guangzhou Economic and Technological Development District, the new plant will supply flavours to the company’s regional and global food and beverage customers.
Spanning an area of 19,000m², it houses sales and administration offices, laboratories, factory buildings, and support services, and will manufacture all types of products currently manufactured by IFF in China, as well as spray dry.
IFF noted that the facility has been designed to achieve sustainability standards with a focus on energy efficiency, low water consumption and minimal waste.
The company expects commercial production to begin in the third quarter of 2013.
IFF chairman and CEO Doug Tough said the company has confidence in its growth strategies in the region and is strongly committed to emerging markets.
“With the opening of our Singapore and Delhi facilities in 2012 and our Guangzhou site in 2013, IFF is well-positioned to support our customers’ growth now and into the future, both regionally and globally,” Tough added.
IFF group president – flavours, Hernan Vaisman said the plant will create flavours that meet the highest global standards in quality, and will utilise green design to minimise its environmental footprint.
Over the next few months, the facility will undergo rigorous testing and production trials to ensure all its products meet the highest global standards, IFF stated.
International Flavors & Fragrances offers flavours and fragrances used in a wide variety of consumer products, including beauty care, detergents and household goods, as well as beverages, confectionery and food products.
