Hilton Food Group to Expand in Australia With €80 Million Investment
Hilton Food Group, the leading specialist international meat packing business, is to proceed with plans to expand its packing capability in Australia, by constructing a new meat processing facility in Queensland, in order to supply Woolworths, the leading Australian retailer.
The development is subject to identifying and acquiring the site, government approvals and the negotiation and finalisation of construction and tenure agreements. It is proposed that Hilton’s Australian subsidiary, Hilton Foods Australia, will finance the new food packing facility, with current target for the commencement of production of 2020.
The new facility will be capable of supplying Woolworths stores in Queensland and adjacent areas of New South Wales, with a range of beef, lamb, pork and added value products. It is expected that Hilton’s investment in plant and equipment will be approximately Aus$115 million (€80 million).
Hilton’s business was established in 1994 to set up and operate a beef and lamb central meat packing facility in Huntingdon, England. Over the last 20 years this facility has grown and additionally we acquired a packing facility in the Netherlands, built new factories in a further four European countries and entered into a joint venture agreement with Woolworths in Australia.
Each of Hilton’s central meat packing plants are operated on a dedicated basis for Hilton customers. Hilton’s business model has been adapted to meet local requirements with customers in each country.
