Grupo Osborne, the Spanish food and beverage group, has purchased 51% of Natique, a company founded in 1996 and engaged in the production and marketing of cachaça and vodka in Brazil. Cachaça is a traditional spirit in Brazil, made from fermented sugar cane. The purchase of a majority stake in Natique for an undisclosed sum enables Osborne to gain a competitive position within the Brazilian spirits industry.
Owner of brands such as Cinco Jotas, Sanchez Romero Carvajal, Anís del Mono, Veterano, Magno, Carlos I and Montecillo, Grupo Osborne had net sales of Eur222 million and an EBITDA of Eur32.5 million in 2012. The beverage unit represents 78% of the group’s business.
