Faerch Plast UK, one of the leading manufacturers of plastic packaging for the food industry, has signed up to the UK Plastics Pact, a bold and unique initiative set to transform the UK plastic industry. By bringing together the entire plastics value chain behind a common set of ambitious targets, the new Pact will move the company towards a system which keeps plastic in the economy and out of the environment.

As part of Faerch Plast’s commitment to the UK Plastics Pact, it will invest in further innovation, research and new business models to rethink and redesign the packaging it delivers to the food industry, as well as encourage more re-use.

Faerch Plast is a founding member of The UK Plastics Pact, led by WRAP, and aligned with and supporting The Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s global initiative. It is a collaborative initiative that will create a circular economy for plastics and ensure that plastics do not end up in the environment.

Andrew Osborne-Smith (pictured), Regional CEO of Faerch Plast UK & Ireland, says: “We are very proud to be part of the WRAP UK Plastics Pact. We see this as an extremely positive step forward and confirms our alignment with the European Circular Economy. We have a clear 12-month Roadmap in place and the work starts now. Faerch Plast is one of the leading manufacturers of recyclable plastic packaging for the food industry and through our support of the UK Plastics Pact we can continue our long standing policy of helping to reduce the environmental impact through product innovation and material development.”

The UK Plastics Pact, which will be delivered by WRAP, is a trailblazing and collaborative initiative that will create a circular economy for plastics. It brings together the entire plastics packaging value chain behind a common vision and ambitious set of targets.

It will stimulate innovative new business models to reduce the total amount of plastic packaging. It will also help build a stronger recycling system, where the industry takes more responsibility for its own waste, and ensure plastic packaging can be effectively recycled and made into new products and packaging. With the support of governments, it will ensure consistent UK recycling is met. http://www.wrap.org.uk/content/the-uk-plastics-pact
