Leading commercial vehicle company Euroway have just clinched a major two-year exclusivity for contract hire requirements with Domino’s Pizza Group plc for the supply of new and replacement vehicles for its UK distribution fleet during 2012 and 2013, with all the new vehicles operating from Domino’s three sites in Milton Keynes, Penrith and Naas.

In addition, Domino’s has also signed a FleetSure fleet maintenance agreement with Euroway for the rest of its retail distribution fleet, covering refrigerated vans, rigids, tractor units and trailers, with every vehicle now fitted with the latest state-of-the-art telematics equipment as part of the agreed FleetSure Pro package.

According to Gareth Franks, Food Services Director, Domino’s Pizza Group plc, “In the tender process, Euroway excelled in providing us with a serious solution for our future distribution requirements. As well as supplying new vehicles and an effective fleet management programme for all our fleet, Euroway’s overall package was exactly what we were looking for from a vehicle provider.”
“Domino’s is expanding rapidly and to meet this demand, we need to work with a partner who understands our business. It’s not just about supplying vehicles; it’s about operating them over a period of time. Euroway ticked all the boxes for us, giving us even more than we expected and are now our preferred vehicle supplier for at least the next two years,” added Gareth.

Domino’s Pizza Group currently runs a 100% refrigerated distribution fleet, comprising in excess of 60 vehicles, covering 3.5t, 7.5t, 23t and 26t rigids as well as tractor units and refrigerated trailers. The company operates a highly intensive distribution programme in the UK, with each store getting three deliveries a week. The vehicles deliver Domino’s own in-house dough for the pizza bases, as well as stocks of toppings and all retail packaging to each individual franchised store.

Gareth Franks explains, “The initial new vehicles are straightforward fleet replacements, however, later in the year and in 2013, we will be looking to expand the fleet with extra numbers to cope with the planned growth of our retail store network.”

As part of Domino’s initial 2012 requirements, Euroway has supplied a large number of DAF CF75.310 and DAF LF45.160 rigid trucks, all specified with G&A refrigerated bodies, together with a number of DAF CF85.410 Space Cab tractor units and Fiat Ducato refrigerated vans with RVL conversions. On the rigid vehicles, Carrier Transicold Supra Silent refrigeration systems have been specified as standard as well as Dhollandia rear underslung tail lifts. All the new vehicles are being run on a 5-year contract hire deal that includes Euroway’s popular FleetSure fleet maintenance.

Gareth Franks continues, “In the next eight years, the Domino’s store count will double nationally and we were very aware that we needed to introduce a new system of delivery that will handle the immediate and future growth. By working very closely with us, Euroway has fully recognised that it is not just about supplying vehicles, it’s about operating them over a planned vehicle life. As part of the new vehicle contract, they even provided additional services such as vehicle training not just on the chassis cab itself, but also for the temperature controlled bodies, the refrigeration systems and the tail lifts.”

All the new vehicles feature the newly created Domino’s branding, and the livery application was arranged by Euroway, using the Traxx livery system, which enables Domino’s to change its livery as often as required, to coincide with planned marketing campaigns for the Domino’s brand.

Running alongside the new vehicle programme, Domino’s has also signed a FleetSure fleet maintenance programme with Euroway for the remainder of its UK distribution fleet. All vehicles, from vans, rigids and tractor/trailer combinations, are now running live on Euroway’s FleetSure Pro package, which offers remote 24/7 real-time fleet visibility, whether in the office or alternatively on the move via Euroway’s unique smartFleet App across both the latest smartphone and tablet technology.

Every vehicle within the Domino’s fleet has been fitted with a telematics platform to provide an electronic ‘O’ licence capability and enhanced driver performance. This enables Domino’s transport management to have a real-time overview of its complete fleet at both depot level and management level, across all three locations 24/7, whilst of course monitoring and managing fuel costs, a key factor for any fleet operator in today’s economic climate.

As the first of the new vehicles went into service, Mark Howell, sales and marketing director at Euroway said, “This partnership with Domino’s is a significant deal for many reasons, not just because Domino’s is a high profile household brand with a challenging multi-drop urban distribution cycle. Domino’s has worked with Euroway in the past, but our percentage of their business had diminished over the years. This new contract re-establishes Euroway as Domino’s exclusive preferred supplier.”

“At the same time, not only are we providing them with premium specification vehicles for a demanding on time temperature controlled urban fleet, but we are also using our FleetSure fleet maintenance programme for the remainder of the fleet. This will enable Domino’s to have full visibility across its total fleet, not just on the vehicles supplied by us. Domino’s will have real-time data and a full suite of KPI’s, quite literally, at the press of a button, though our App enabled ‘smartFleet’ technology, available on smartphones and tablets, allowing Domino’s to benchmark our performance at any time, 24/7/365,” added Mark Howell.
