Endoline Machinery will be launching a new machine – the ‘Spider’ palletising robot – at the forthcoming PPMA show.  The ‘Spider’ is new to the UK packaging market and will be sold exclusively by Endoline.

The ‘Spider’ robot is a servo driven gantry robot built with 3 or 4 axes and is unique due to its compact footprint and ability to palletise boxes, crates, buckets, bags or other packed goods from one or multiple lines. Operated by interpolated controls the heavy-duty linear axes move like spiders with speed and accuracy enabling the machine to reach high speeds of up to 10 cycles per minute.

Due to a unique fast gripper changing system – from vacuum gripper to a clamping gripper –the ‘Spider’ is suitable for a variety of sectors, including food and drink, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics. Change over is quick and efficient as a result of pre-programmed pallet patterns which are stored into the ‘Spider’ and viewed via a large ‘operator display’ panel.  This ‘operator display’ panel continuously visualises the status of the machine, the servo drives and the different peripheral equipment – such as infeed conveyors, pallet conveyors, and pallet destackers.  The ease of use of the software also enables the customer to introduce new palletising patterns at any point.

MD and CEO of Endoline Machinery, Alan Yates, comments: “The ‘Spider’ machine came to our attention through one of our European distributors – as the machine is particularly successful within Belgium and Holland.  It was the ‘Spiders’ ability to palletise different types of containers which was particularly appealing to us as this would work for all of our customers and is not dependant on the industry they are in. As a result we have established a joint venture with the Belgian company who manufacture the ‘Spider’ to produce it and launch it within the UK.”

In addition ‘compactness’ is a key appeal to many of Endoline’s customer with space often being an issue.  As a result the ‘Spider’ has been built with the X, Y, Z axes of the robot mounted above the pallet rather than beside the pallet, with a safety fence around it.

The new ‘Spider’ machine will be available for visitors to view at the PPMA Show in Hall 5, Stand D30.
