Dole Packaged Foods has turned to appsFreedom, a provider of mobile cloud software for SAP, to help manage its procurement process via smartphone.

Dole Packaged Foods is a subsidiary of Dole International Holdings Inc.; it sources, processes, distributes and markets a range of fruit products and snack items. Its staff is charged with obtaining a wide range of fresh fruit, vegetables and other ingredients from far-reaching sources across the globe to make its range of edible items.

Mobile procurement solution

ProcurementFreedom is a suite of mobile apps, produced by AZ-based appsFreedom, designed to help manufacturers streamline and simplify procurement. According to Dole Packaged Foods representatives, the food processing firm was looking for a solution to mobile-enable and speed their SAP purchase order and approval process.

Before they implemented procurementFreedom, executives reportedly could only access SAP purchase orders through desktop and laptops, resulting in a long wait time for PO approvals and impacting operations and productivity. By contrast, the app transmits mobile notification and PO details to executives to review and act.

Now, our busy executives can approve or reject PO’s from any mobile device, helping us speed the entire purchasing process and improve productivity,” said Steve Harvey, senior director of IT at Dole Packaged Foods.

Easy interface

ProcurementFreedom’s interface is designed to let users conduct everyday tasks in SAP. The new system was deployed at Dole Packaged Foods in a few weeks, and the tool reportedly had a positive impact quickly.

AppsFreedom provides a broad range of mobile software that is designed to enable companies and their staff to have greater mobility in conducting crucial job and workplace functions. In addition to apps, the company offers the Freedom Platform, intended to enable enterprises to build, deploy, manage and run mobile apps with a simple, user-based subscription model.
