Damien Heary has joined William Grant & Sons as global planning and innovation director
Based at the company’s global marketing office in Dublin, Damien Heary leads innovation and planning teams in Ireland, the UK and US. He assumes responsibility for generating and applying consumer insights to drive brand marketing activity for the entire William Grant & Sons portfolio globally. He will also lead the further growth of an innovation culture across the company, in the development of new products.
Heary joins from Publicis QMP (Dublin) where he was head of planning and a member of the board with responsibility for strategic planning on key clients including Meteor, Renault, Cadbury, VHI and Miller. He was also head of the Publicis Ireland international digital research company AskChili.
He was formerly global brand manager for Carlsberg, based in Copenhagen, and prior to that was a brand manager for Diageo in Ireland on Carlsberg and innovation projects.
He also joins William Grant & Sons’ global marketing leadership team and is the third director to be based in Dublin since the establishment of the global marketing office in 2010, joining Shane Hoyne (Tullamore Dew global brand director) and Enda O’Sullivan (Sailor Jerry global brand director) and their teams.
“Planning and innovation is a vital area within our business and the appointment of Damien is a further indication of our long term investment and confidence in Ireland as a significant base for William Grant & Sons,” said William Grant & Sons group marketing director, Maurice Doyle.
“He will bring to the role a passion for generating and applying consumer insight as well as a strong background in integrating digital/social media thinking into brand planning.”
