Food and drink professionals will be given the unparalleled opportunity to discover the latest industry developments when Packaging Innovations 2020 returns to Birmingham’s NEC on 26 & 27 February. Alongside a series of co-located events, Ecopack, Contract Pack & Fulfilment, Empack, and Label&Print, the show will enable visitors to source companies from across the supply chain. Visitors can also learn from packaging pioneers and network with like-minded individuals.

Product Launches

The packed exhibition floor will allow visitors to discover and interact with cutting-edge developments, with many of the event’s 300 suppliers set to use the show as a launchpad for their latest innovations. One such exhibitor is Yorkshire Packaging Systems, which will unveil its Pizza Capping Film solution. Designed for pizza products, the film is the first of its kind, OPRL approved, and fully recyclable to LDPE level 4. The Bollore BFF shrink film used is converted in-house by the company through a perforation process, allowing it to be provided in any width.

Durham Box will launch its new digital print service for the corrugated packaging market. Following an investment in an EFI™ Nozomi C18000 digital press, the company is now able to provide complex print jobs that rival flexo print qualities.

Wrapid and DuPont Teijin Films will present their new Mylar® rPET lidding film range which has been designed as a sustainable option for several food applications, including ready meals, fresh fruit and vegetables, and meat and fish. The new range utilises up to 50 percent post-consumer content and rPET flake sourced from European deposit return schemes.

Also presenting an eco-friendly solution, Megaplast Group will showcase its Eco Fiber Film. The sustainable stretch film features reinforcement fibres to increase tear resistance, is made from 30 percent recycled raw materials, and produces 50 percent less CO2 than the market average.

Aegg will display its wide range of glass packaging solutions for the drinks sector, including its bottles for water, soft drinks, juices, and soups. The selection includes a variety of profiles and closure types, for capacities from 100ml to 1,000ml.

Interactive Show Features

Alongside the packed show floor, Packaging Innovations will present a series of interactive features designed to offer visitors inspiration and valuable insights that can be applied to their own packaging concepts.

The show’s free-to-attend seminar programme will gather a broad range of the UK’s leading packaging pioneers and brand experts to address the key issues facing the industry. For those looking to gain sector specific insights, the show will also present specially curated forums for the food and drink industries.

To address the complex issue of sustainability, the BIG Carbon Debate will make its debut. The feature has been designed to unpick the challenges of creating truly eco-friendly packaging, as a panel of industry pioneers debate the impact of plastics, and its alternatives, on the environment. Topics of discussion include zero-carbon targets, future-proof packaging, and convenience vs sustainability.

Victoria Blake, Event Director of Easyfairs’ UK Packaging Portfolio, comments: “We have a lot in store for Packaging Innovations 2020. We have several new interactive features taking place, including the BIG Carbon Debate, which is designed to further conversations on the complex and challenging issue of sustainability. It’s also very exciting to see that many of our exhibitors have chosen to launch their latest products and solutions at the show. There is no better place for packaging professionals to discover new suppliers, learn from thought leaders, and network with peers. I can’t wait for the doors to open.”
