CavinKare launches liquid candy
India-based CavinKare has entered into the confectionery segment with the launch of its liquid candy, Funfils, in India. The candy has been launched under its brand Chinni’s.
The candy, which is priced at $0.022, comes in five different fruit variants and is made of fruit pulp and fruit bits.
The company has launched the candy in Tamil Nadu and West Bengal in India, while the national roll out is scheduled before the end of 2011. According to the company, the product is sourced from a third party manufacturer in Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu.
CavinKare plans to introduce more variants of this product and also plans new products in the coming months.
CavinKare Foods & Snacks Business Head Sanjay Sachdeva said the organized confectionery market in India is approximately $667m with domestic players such as Parle and Nutrine, and international brands such as Perfetti Van Melle, Cadbury and Lotte competing.
Currently, CavinKare’s food range, which includes snacks under the brand Garden, pickles and vermicelli under the brand Chinni’s, contributes over 35% of the company’s turnover. Last year, CavinKare had a turnover of $231.51m
