Budweiser Budvar, the State-owned Czech brewer, has reported the highest ever export sales since the business was founded in 1895. The company increased beer exports by 7.8% to 650,000 hectolitres in 2011, while overall output rose by 5.5% to 1.32 million hectolitres. Budweiser Budvar outperformed the Czech brewing industry, which increased production by about 1% in 2011.
Budweiser Budvar exports its lager to some 60 countries across all continents. Its largest markets include Germany, Great Britain, Slovak Republic, Austria, Switzerland, USA, Italy, Hungary and Ireland. Of course, Budweiser Budvar has a long running legal dispute with Anheuser-Busch (now part of Anheuser-Busch InBev) over the use of the Budweiser brand name.
