Bodegas Torres Voted Most Admired European Wine Brand
Bodegas Torres continues to be the most admired European wine brand according to the ranking of the 50 most admired brands in the world, produced by British magazine Drinks International. In this year’s poll of more than 200 masters of wine, sommeliers, journalists and wine experts, Torres continues to lead the European ranking, whilst moving to second place in the world ranking behind the Australian brand Penfolds.
After Penfolds and Torres comes the American brand Ridge, Casillero del Diablo from Chile and the French brand Michel Chapoutier. The countries with the greatest representation on the list are France with 13 brands, Spain with 8 (last year there were 6) and Australia and Chile with 7 and 6 brands respectively. With regard to continents, 28 of the 50 brands are European, 5 of which are among the top 10.
Miguel Torres Maczassek, General Manager of Bodegas Torres, says: “The increasing presence of Spanish brands in this ranking of reference is excellent news but, we must continue to work hard as a sector to improve our international image with brands that are a guarantee of quality”. He adds: “As fifth generation, we wish to continue producing quality wines that reflect the characteristics of each vineyard and each individual terroir. We combine tradition and innovation, and we have the firm commitment to preserve the environment.”
Over the six editions of the ranking, Torres has retained its position as the most admired European wine brand in the world, also taking first place in the world ranking for 2014 and 2015. For the first three years, from 2011 to 2013, it was the second brand at a world level, behind the Chilean Casillero del Diable (Concha y Toro).
