Belgian brewer Duvel Moortgat is expanding its portfolio of speciality beers with the acquisition of Antwerp-based Brouwerij De Koninck for an undisclosed sum. Brouwerij De Koninck is best known for its Bolleke brand which is popular in Antwerp and surrounding areas and parts of the Netherlands, and also enjoys strong brand recognition throughout Belgium.
The Bolleke brand complements Duvel Moortgat’s range of speciality beers, including Duvel, Chouffe, Maredsous, Liefmans, Vedett and Bel Pils. “Our international distribution, including our own branches in Belgium, the Netherlands, France, the UK and the USA, provides an ideal operating base to progressively develop De Koninck,” says Michel Moortgat, chief executive of Duvel Moortgat.
