Bakkavor Group Sells Belgian Fresh Prepared Food Business
Bakkavor, the UK’s leading fresh prepared foods manufacturer, has agreed the sale of its Belgian fresh prepared food business, Vaco, to Culinor Food Group. Culinor is a high-quality producer of fresh prepared ready meals for retail and food service operators across Belgium. The sale is expected to complete by early Autumn.

2016 marks the 30th anniversary of Bakkavor being founded by brothers Agust and Lydur Gudmundsson in Iceland to manufacture and export fish products. Today, Bakkavor is a leading provider of fresh prepared foods, employing over 18,000 people globally and producing over 5,000 products in 18 different categories.
In the UK, Bakkavor is the number one producer by value in 11 of the 16 categories of chilled food it supplies to the market. Products include ready meals, pizzas, salads, desserts, soups and sauces.
Customers include some of the UK’s best known grocery retailers including Tesco, Marks & Spencer, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose, Asda and Morrisons, who sell Bakkavor’s products to consumers under their respective retailer brands. Bakkavor also has operations in the US, Asia and Continental Europe supplying fresh prepared food products to both retail and food service customers.
