Allen Coding kit helps chocolate firm to boost production time
Chocolate bars and wafer biscuits maker OP Chocolate has announced that its investment in a 53LTi thermal transfer printer from Allen Coding Systems has helped it to increase production time by fifteen per cent
The firm said that it had previously had a machine that was no “longer operating efficiently and causing too much downtime”.
It said that its investment in its new printer had increased production time by 15% and, with its automated system of changing the code and print quality, reduced changeovers from 15 to two minutes.
Installed on an automated bagging machine, the 53LTi currently operates at speeds of up to 75 bags per minute to print production codes and best before dates on to laminated printed film, for the packaging of mini two-finger wafer bars for European export.
OP Chocolate site services manager Alan Barker said: “We should have done it years ago! Installation was very simple using a custom-made bracket supplied with the unit.
“It was installed on time, within budget, with no fuss and first-class operator instructions given. The result is improved print quality, ease of changing the code, good value for money and simple operation. I would recommend it and Allen without hesitation.”
Accoridng to Allen Coding Systems, the 53LTi thermal transfer printer can print on fixed and variable data, text and graphics. It is also designed to reproduce bar codes, ‘real time’ time codes, sell-by dates, batch numbers, prices, source codes, 2D data matrix code and much more.
