Alexir to unveil ‘Cartocan’ at Packaging Innovations show
Carton manufacturer Alexir Packaging has teamed up with Austrian co-packer Ennstal Milch to launch a new beverage pack made from cartonboard called Cartocan
The firm will unveil the Cartocan at this year’s Packaging Innovations show in October.
Alexir said that the Cartocan is the first and only cylindrical packaging format made from cartonboard to be filled aseptically with liquid and have an extended shelf-life of up to 12 months unchilled.
In a statement, Alexir added: “This environmentally-friendly alternative is aimed at premium products in the drinks industry, covering all sectors other than carbonated.”
Speaking about the Cartocan, Alexir Partnership sales director Tom Sene said: “We have been looking for a product that would complement our current portfolio and now we can offer our customers wet co-packing as well as dry.
“We are well-known in the industry for being first-to-market with carton board packaging in market sectors dominated by plastic or glass and now we have found the ideal solution for the drinks industry. It’s pioneering packaging and we are excited to be launching it at the show.”
The Cartocan won ‘Best Packaging Innovation’ at IFE in March this year.
