AB InBev Makes Approach to SABMiller
Anheuser-Busch InBev, the world’s largest brewer, has confirmed that it has made an approach to SABMiller’s board of directors regarding a combination of the two companies. Such a deal would merge the two biggest players in the global beer market. AB InBev’s intention is to work with SABMiller’s board toward a recommended transaction.
There can be no certainty that this approach will result in an offer or agreement, or as to the terms of any such agreement.
In accordance with Rule 2.6(a) of the City Code on Takeovers and Mergers, AB InBev must, by not later than 5.00 pm on Wednesday 14 October, 2015, either announce a firm intention to make an offer for SABMiller or announce that it does not intend to make an offer. This deadline will only be extended with the consent of SABMiller and the Takeover Panel.
