A new-look science based website
The Sugar Bureau, established in the 1960s to provide information on sugar and its association with health, has launched its new website, www.sugarnutrition.org.uk, to better reflect its current scientific work
Funding evidence-based research on sugars, carbohydrates and health is a key role of the Sugar Bureau. This new website better reflects this scientific work and the organisation’s standing in the world of nutritional science.
This new website focuses far more on providing updates on research, monitoring developments in nutritional science (published in scientific journals), along with providing an extensive information database on a wide range of topics, from dental health to weight control, with the latest scientific references.
Dr Alison Boyd, the Bureau’s Director commented ”These are exciting, changing times for our organisation and as qualified nutritionists we are all absolutely committed to improving the knowledge and understanding of the contribution that sugar and other carbohydrates make to a healthy balanced diet. Evidence-based research is at the very core of our work, so our new website reflects this more and communicates it to our stakeholders, particularly academics, and health professionals, who rely on research to help them in their work.”
The website also has sign-up facilities to enable email receipt of research news specifically tailored for journalists and consumers, while health professionals have an interactive facility to sign-up to newsletters, research information and a Q&A section.
Furthermore, there is an important schools section that is specifically aimed at helping students with their research by providing them with a comprehensive background to the history and geography of sugar, production methods and the science of sugar in nutrition.
