On 22 June, the new Schütz Polska Sp. z o.o. factory was officially opened, and the inauguration was duly celebrated with a large event. At the beginning of December 2016, production of Schütz Ecobulks commenced at the 23,000-square-metre site in Zory, which is around 35 kilometres south of Katowice. An IBC reconditioning line was installed in May 2017.

Roland Straßburger, Schütz CEO, and Zbigniew Zietkowski, General Manager Schütz Polska Sp. z o.o., welcomed guests from Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Russia, Austria and Germany. In their speeches, representatives of state authorities, including Piotr Wojaczek, Chairman of the Special Economic Zone Katowice (KSSE S.A.), Andrzej Zabieglinski, Vice-Chairman of the Special Economic Zone Katowice (KSSE S.A.) and Waldemar Socha, President of the town of Zory, praised Schütz’s commitment to the region. According to a ranking compiled by the Business Financial Times, this is currently the best economic zone in Europe. The speeches were followed by the ceremonial cutting of a ribbon to open the new plant.

The new subsidiary in southern Poland was built in compliance with the latest production and technical standards and is equipped with state-of-the-art production lines. It is synonymous with the very highest efficiency, flexibility and dependability, as customers and media representatives from Poland and abroad were invited to see for themselves during a special tour of the new site.

Gateway to Central and Eastern Europe boosts Schütz’s global network

The new factory is a valuable addition to the global collection and reconditioning network and adds a further hub for the countries in Central and Eastern Europe. Zory is one of the key industrial sites in the region. The town in Upper Silesia is close to the borders of the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Austria, Hungary, Romania, Ukraine and Russia are also easily reached through the excellent infrastructure. The factory, which was specifically built as a gateway to Central Europe, enables even faster collections and more flexible services thanks to shorter distances. The opening of the new site also makes a great contribution to sustainability, as shorter distances always mean lower emissions.

As the new central hub, Schütz Polska Sp. z o.o. will be ensuring the optimum supply of products to the markets of Central and Eastern Europe. As well as the production and reconditioning facilities, the site also includes administration offices. Regional customers benefit through a better supply security and local administrative and technical support.

Headquartered at Selters in the Westerwald region of Germany,  Schütz employs over 4500 people at more than 47 production and service sites around the world (including licensees). The four Schütz business units, Packaging Systems, Energy Systems, Industrial Services and Composites, each hold leading positions in their respective markets. The family-run enterprise is an important trendsetter and innovator.

As the leading international producer of high-quality transport packaging (intermediate bulk containers, PE and steel drums), Schütz offers its customers full system solutions, which are all tailored to their individual supply chains. With the Schütz Ticket Service, a closed-loop cycle of speedy collection and reconditioning for used Schütz IBCs, Schütz provides all of the world’s major industrial nations with a service that fully complies with the group’s sustainability philosophy.
