An innovative solution using pulsed light technology 

Suitable for ESL > 60 days filling lines, the first Claranor equipment for the internal and external sterilization of flat caps has been developed and implemented for the first time on a filling line of ESL fruit juices few months ago.

The product is an orange juice stored in the chilled chain 10 weeks, without preservative, filled in a PET bottle and closed with a flat-cap with an aluminum foil. The product needs an internal treatment for the part in contact with the juice and also an external cap sterilization to avoid cross-contamination in the clean filling room.

• Cap sterilization with chemicals is not adapted because of the complex shape of the cap generating trapping hazard in the dead volumes of the cap ;
• UVC solution was not validated because of not reaching the required log reduction. The Pulsed light solution fulfilled all the customer requirements.

Claranor solution: 2 lamps-reflector for internal decontamination and 1 lamp-reflector for external decontamination, design dedicated to the shape of the cap. Claranor offers a custom-fabrication to respond to the demand.

Adaptable on high speed-line 

The challenge was to keep up with the high speed of the line which meant sterilizing both sides instantly.

Designed to comply to the new requirement of sterilizing simultaneously the internal and external surface of the cap, we develop a machine with 2 reflectors placed around the cap chute.
