Novamont and Lavazza join Shamengo during Paris climate conference
Lavazza and Novamont join Shamengo at the United Nations Climate Change Conference currently taking place in Paris with their innovative coffee capsule made from Mater-Bi.
Within this framework they will continue to participate in intense research and innovation activities aimed at proposing sustainable solutions inspired by the circular economy.
In 2015 Lavazza and Novamont launched an innovative product capable of radically changing coffee production and consumption: the Italian-made coffee capsule made from Mater-Bi – a bioplastic 100% compostable according to EU standard EN 13432 – which will be offered to Conference attendees in the VIP Lounge of the Shamengo Villa.
This compostable capsule, subject of a five-year R&D project, is designed to make a significant contribution to reducing emissions: consumers will be able to dispose of both the content (coffee grounds) and the container (capsule made from compostable bioplastic) together with food waste for separate collection, enabling the organic recycling of a product which would otherwise have been sent to landfill.
Shamengo researches, supports and develops solutions for a business and organisations to work in a more environmentally-friendly manner.
