Sachsenmilch Milk & Whey Ingredients will be highlighting its high quality milk and whey proteins specifically for sports nutrition, dietary and functional food markets on Stand 6A45 in Hall 6 at Food Ingredients Europe 2015 in Paris.
Sachsenmilch Milk & Whey Ingredients produces milk and whey proteins, various lactose qualities and natural milk calcium for the food industry and customers within the infant and sports nutrition sectors. The product portfolio includes higher whey proteins like WPC70, WPC80 and WPI as well as micellar casein concentrate MCC80, each in standard and instant quality. All products meet the quality standards of FSSC 22000 and are available for special dietary requirements, such as kosher, halal and vegetarian.
Sachsenmilch Milk & Whey Ingredients’ high-quality protein products are ideally suited for applications within the fast growing sports nutrition, dietary and functional food markets worldwide. The product portfolio includes various whey protein concentrates and isolates from selected whey sources. The company’s products sold under the GermanProt brand are an excellent source of essential amino acids and BCAA and have an exceptional nutritional quality.
Sachsenmilch Milk & Whey Ingredients also markets a special micellar casein concentrate under the GermanMicell brand. This product is extracted directly from fresh skimmed milk and has a special casein to whey ratio of 90:10, which makes the product an excellent source of highly enriched protein. All the company’s protein products are available in instant quality, especially for sports and dietary nutrition purposes.
New Lactose Facility
Also at Fi Europe 2015, Sachsenmilch Milk & Whey Ingredients will be giving visitors to its Stand a first insight into the high-care production capabilities of its new lactose facility due to commence operation in April 2016.
“The demand for infant and nutraceutical nutrition is showing rapid global growth, especially in China, South-east Asia and Oceania. With our latest investment in a brand new lactose facility we are further expanding our ingredients business and focus on infant and dietetic markets,” explains Jeroen Derks, Managing Director of Sachsenmilch Milk & Whey Ingredients. “The facility, constructed with state-of-the-art membrane technology, is able to produce special lactose for infant dry mix applications that meet all strict requirements of infant foods and dietary regulation. The technology we’ve incorporated into this facility also provides us with the ability to customize products.”
Constant Investment
Indeed, the German dairy company has invested constantly during the last ten years in the latest technology to manufacture more sophisticated and higher quality products. In 2011, it opened a new facility for highly processed milk and whey ingredients. This investment includes one of the largest state-of-the-art ultrafiltration and microfiltration, and the biggest special spray tower for proteins worldwide. “We continuously invest in our technology to offer more flexible product solutions to our customers. For instance, added value whey proteins have been developed specifically for use in sports nutrition formulae,” Jeroen Derks points out.
With an annual milk intake of more than 1.8 billion kilograms, Sachsenmilch Leppersdorf GmbH operates as one of the largest single dairy plants in Europe. The unique layout with five dairies under one roof allows the efficient production of fresh dairy products, basic products like milk, butter, cream & cheese and premium milk & whey ingredients.
Competitive Advantage
“We also have one of the largest cheese factories in Europe producing about 100,000 tons of semi-hard cheese and mozzarella annually. Processing the daily fresh whey from our in-house cheese dairies in large scale is a major competitive advantage compared to many other dairies worldwide. That enables us to ensure our customers reliable production capacities and complete traceability of all our raw materials,” he explains.
A further competitive edge is the vast knowledge and expertise about dairy products and milk processing that the company has from being part of parent group Unternehmensgruppe Theo Müller, which operates 14 dairy production sites in 4 countries.
“In our own application center especially for dairy products our highly motivated and passionate research and development team is developing innovative new milk and whey products for food and dairy applications,” says Jeroen Derks. “Our latest product innovation is a whey protein concentrate WPC70 specifically for the use as emulsifying agent in sauces and deli applications.”
