Nestlé Joins the Global Apprenticeships Network (GAN)
Nestlé has joined the Global Apprenticeships Network (GAN), a coalition of companies, employers’ federations and associations that addresses the global youth unemployment crisis and the need for business to ensure skills for the future.
Members are also committed to activities including sharing good practices within the network and improving the status of apprenticeship programmes through advocacy campaigns.
GAN was founded in 2013 by the International Organisation of Employers (IOE) and the Business and Industry Advisory Committee to the OECD (BIAC), with the support of the International Labour Organization (ILO).
In 2013, Nestlé launched its Nestlé needs YOUth programme and has committed to providing20,000 jobs and training opportunities for young people under 30 in Europe by 2016. In 2014 it launched the Alliance for YOUth, which unites companies in Europe to provide apprenticeships, traineeships and readiness for work events.
The company recently announced the Nestlé Global Youth Initiative, which will help young people worldwide develop skills and become more employable, by offering traineeships, apprenticeships and readiness for work activities across its operations.
